WikiV Copyright Policy

At WikiV, we are committed to respecting the intellectual property rights of others and complying with copyright laws. This Copyright Policy outlines our practices and procedures for handling copyright matters.

User Contributions

  • Original Content: Users are encouraged to contribute original content to WikiV. By submitting content, users grant WikiV a non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual, and worldwide license to use, modify, distribute, and display the content.
  • Attribution: When using content from other sources, users must provide proper attribution. This includes citing the original author and source of the content.
  • Fair Use: Users should ensure that their contributions comply with fair use principles, which allow for limited use of copyrighted material without permission under certain conditions (e.g., commentary, criticism, news reporting, education, and research).

Creative Commons 4.0 License

WikiV encourages the use of Creative Commons (CC) licenses, specifically the CC BY-SA 4.0 (Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International) license. This license allows users to share and adapt the content as long as they provide appropriate credit, indicate if changes were made, and distribute any contributions under the same license.

Copyright Infringement

  • Reporting Infringement: If you believe that your copyrighted work has been used on WikiV without proper authorization, please contact us at copyright@wikiv.org. Provide the following information:
    • A description of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed.
    • A description of the location on WikiV where the alleged infringement occurs.
    • Your contact information (name, address, email, and phone number).
    • A statement affirming your belief that the use of the material is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
    • A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information provided is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on behalf of the owner.
    • Your electronic or physical signature.

Content Removal and Disputes

  • Removal of Infringing Content: Upon receiving a valid copyright infringement notice, WikiV will promptly remove the infringing content and notify the user who submitted it.
  • Counter-Notice: If you believe that your content was removed by mistake or misidentification, you may submit a counter-notice to copyright@wikiv.org. Your counter-notice must include:
    • A description of the removed content and its location before removal.
    • A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that you have a good faith belief that the content was removed in error.
    • Your contact information (name, address, email, and phone number).
    • A statement consenting to the jurisdiction of the federal court in your district, or if outside the United States, the judicial district where WikiV is located.
    • Your electronic or physical signature.
  • Resolution: WikiV will review all counter-notices and, if appropriate, restore the content in question. Repeated instances of copyright infringement may result in user account suspension or termination.

Compliance and Updates

  • Compliance: WikiV adheres to the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) and other applicable copyright laws. We are committed to ensuring that our platform respects the rights of copyright holders.
  • Policy Updates: This Copyright Policy may be updated periodically to reflect changes in copyright law or WikiV’s practices. Users are encouraged to review this policy regularly to stay informed about our copyright practices.
